Description
Begin your tour with a pickup from the Tasmanian Visitor and Information Centre in Hobart. Head to the Coal River Valley and visit 3 of the 4 vineyards listed below:
- Nocton: Nestled in the hillsides, just outside Richmond, this vineyard offers a fabulous selection of wines, including sparkling, Chardonnay, Rosé, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Merlot.
- Pooley Wines: On the outskirts of Richmond, on Butchers Hill, sits the magnificent heritage-listed Georgian building, Belmont Lodge. Here, the cellar door wine tastings are offered in the rustic charms of the sandstone stables.
- Puddleduck: Owners Darren and Jackie extend a warm welcome to all of the visitors that come to experience Puddleducks. In an enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere, sample the award-winning wine selections and Tasmanian cheese platter.
- Coal River Valley Vineyard: Enjoy beautiful sweeping views across the estuary of the Coal River and Pittwater. Relax with award-winning Pinot and Riesling in quite possibly the most picturesque vineyard in the district.
Next, head to the historic Richmond village, home to some of the oldest colonial buildings in Australia, including the famous Richmond Bridge and Gaol, which predates the better-known Port Arthur. Explore quaint galleries, boutiques, and cafes. Visit the Richmond Tasting House and take advantage of an optional whiskey, gin, or vodka tasting.
Finally, visit Wicked Cheese to sample award-winning cheeses made on site.
