Description

This is a specialised tour for Cruise Ship passengers only. The meet time and return times will suit the Cruise Ship arrival and departure times. Escape the crowds on this small group adventure and discover Tasmania's unique natural attractions. Soak up Tasmania’s pure and wild nature in a day of rainforest walks, picturesque waterfalls, wilderness, and wildlife. Explore Mount Field National Park, meet the local wildlife at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, and see the iconic Russell Falls. Depart from Hobart and head to Mount Field National Park, one of Tasmania’s oldest National Parks, and surely the prettiest. Only 1.5 hours from Hobart, this natural wonderland features lush temperate rainforest, moody alpine moorland, and cascading waterfalls. It’s a place of serenity and great short walks – and there are plenty on the agenda. Begin with an easy walk, meandering alongside a quiet stream to iconic Russell Falls, where water pours over rock in three perfect tiers. Push on through dappled light and ferns glades to reach the peaceful Horseshoe Falls, before joining the Tall Trees Trail where towering Swamp Gums stretch over 80 meters into the sky. Next up is Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary where you’ll meet all kinds of native wildlife, hand feed the wallabies, and meet the resident wombats. Tasmanian Devils are carnivorous marsupials that can only be found in Tasmania. They look like a small bear and are just as feisty, with one of the most powerful bites in the animal kingdom. Learn about Tasmania’s rare and precious fauna while watching a snarling and feisty Tassie Devil feeding show. Return to the Hobart Waterfront/Cruise Terminal at the end of the day. Most cruise ships visiting Hobart will suit an 8.45am meet ready for a 9.00am departure. With a return around 4.00pm. The meet point is a very short and easy walk from the Terminal. The meet point is from the Tasmanian Travel & Information Center, 20 Davey Street, Hobart.
