Description

Join us for a fun and action-packed day on the Tasman Peninsula! Explore, discover, and learn with our experienced guides as we enjoy a variety of walks, sightseeing and history with all entrance fees included. We make an early start from Hobart and head straight to the spectacular Tasman Peninsula, known for its dramatic coastal scenery, rich history, and Australia’s highest sea cliffs. Our first stop is the Pirates Bay Lookout, offering panoramic views of the coastline, dramatic geological features, and a sense of the challenges faced by escaping convicts. Passing through Eaglehawk Neck and the historic Dog Line, we learn about the area's significant role in Tasmania’s convict era. Next, we set off on one of Tasmania’s “Great Short Walks” — the Waterfall Bay Clifftop Walk. This scenic 2km track begins at Waterfall Bay and follows the stunning coastline to Tasman Arch and Devil’s Kitchen. The 45–60-minute walk is easy to moderate, offering incredible views of towering sea cliffs and dramatic rock formations along the way. From there, we head to the Port Arthur Historic Site, where you'll have around 4 hours to explore this UNESCO World Heritage-listed open-air museum. Your entry includes: • Visit Port Arthur Historic Site (4 hours) • Access to all buildings and ruins • A 25-minute Harbour Cruise around the Isle of the Dead • The Port Arthur Experience podcast • Expert-led talks throughout the day Discover the grim and fascinating history of this former penal settlement, including the main penitentiary, solitary confinement cells, and many more historic buildings. On our return to Hobart, we stop in the charming historic township of Richmond. Enjoy free time to explore the quaint Georgian streetscape, visit the famous Lolly Shop or Chocolatier, grab a coffee, and stroll across Australia’s oldest sandstone bridge, built by convicts and rumoured to be haunted! We return to Hobart around 6:00 PM.
