Description
Wineglass Bay & Freycinet National Park Day Tour from Hobart
Discover the natural beauty and rich history of Tasmania’s East Coast on this full-day small group tour from Hobart to the iconic Wineglass Bay.
Your journey begins with a relaxing 20-minute stop at a local bakery, just outside of Hobart — a perfect opportunity to grab a coffee and breakfast before the adventure begins.
We then travel along the scenic Great Eastern Drive, passing through lush farmland and forested hills. Drive through the historic township of Buckland, and continue to the coastal town of Orford, where we stop at Raspins Beach. Enjoy panoramic views of Maria Island and hear fascinating stories of its colourful convict past and first settlers.
Next, we head north through the seaside town of Tribunna and Swansea, where you’ll learn about the region’s early European settlers before reaching Freycinet National Park — the highlight of the day.
Join your guide for a moderate 1.5-hour return walk to the Wineglass Bay Lookout, where you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of one of the world’s most photographed beaches, framed by the pink granite peaks of the Hazards.
After the walk, we explore more of Freycinet's beauty with visits to Honeymoon Bay and Cape Tourville Lookout. Enjoy stunning coastal views, white sandy beaches, and the crystal-clear waters of the Tasman Sea.
If you’re in the mood for something delicious, we stop at the renowned Devil’s Corner Winery, where you’ll have the chance to sample fresh local seafood from Freycinet Marine Farm, enjoy wood-fired pizzas or pasta, and sip on award-winning Tasmanian wines — all while taking in spectacular views over Great Oyster Bay.
Time and group pace permitting, we may also visit Kate’s Berry Farm, a charming local favourite offering homemade jams, chocolates, ice cream, and fresh berry desserts.
On the way back to Hobart, we stop in the picturesque historic village of Richmond, home to over 50 original and beautifully restored Georgian buildings, including the oldest convict-built bridge in Australia still in use today.
If daylight and weather allow, we finish with a scenic stop at Rosny Hill Lookout, where you’ll enjoy sweeping views of Hobart, Mount Wellington, and the Derwent River before returning to the city in the evening.
