Description
The sanctuary is located at the entrance to the World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain National Park. It is home to Tasmanian devils, as well as Spotted-tail and Eastern quolls. These are Tasmania’s three largest carnivorous marsupials, each facing threats in the wild.
Visitors can explore the sanctuary at their own pace to observe the animals’ daytime behaviors such as resting, sunbathing, play fighting, and foraging. Guided keeper tours provide deeper insight into the animals’ habits and the Devils@Cradle conservation programs.
Walking through the natural environment with an experienced guide allows you to see these unique animals up close and understand ongoing efforts to protect them.

- Sanctuary open daily from 9:30am to 5pm. Visitors may explore independently or join keeper tours.
- The tour operates in all weather; please dress accordingly.
- Location is approximately a 2-hour drive from Launceston.
- The sanctuary features uneven terrain, steps, natural woodchip paths, platforms, and compacted gravel.
- Wheelchair access is available to the main viewing deck via reception or a side gate; some areas may be inaccessible, but staff can assist with prior arrangement.
