At The Springs, you can purchase a hot drink at the Lost Freight Cafe while admiring the cliffs and summit ahead.

Next, ascend through the tree line to the chalet situated 1000 meters above sea level. From there, take the easily graded Organ Pipes Track for a 90-minute walk. Along the way, experience colorful snow gums, towering dolerite cliffs, boulder fields, and impressive views of Hobart and its surroundings.

Your guide David, with university-level expertise in botany and geology and family ties to early pioneer hikers, brings the landscape to life through stories and detailed information.

Continue the ascent to Mount Wellington’s summit at 1271 meters. Enjoy progressively better views of Hobart and the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Visit the trig point at the highest elevation and pause to absorb the extensive panorama. David shares personal anecdotes, including his first 5-hour city-to-summit hike at age 18.
