Cape Bruny Lighthouse, built in 1836, is Australia’s southernmost lighthouse open to tours. Bruny Island Safaris has exclusive access, making this tour unique. The owner, Craig, has a personal connection, having grown up visiting the island when his father was the lighthouse keeper.

The tour begins with a 7am departure from Hobart in an air-conditioned bus and includes a ferry crossing to Bruny Island. Morning tea is served at Two Tree Point on the beach, featuring ‘Get Shucked’ oysters, three types of local cheese, freshly baked bread, tea, and coffee—prepared by your guide and eaten outdoors.

Next, the tour explores Adventure Bay, where guides search for the Bennett's white wallaby, a rare albino marsupial unique to Tasmania. Sightings cannot be guaranteed as they live in the wild.

Weather permitting, the bus travels through Mount Mangana Rainforest before entering South Bruny National Park. The included Parks Pass covers entry fees.

The lighthouse tour involves climbing 72 steps to the balcony, where views stretch across the Southern Ocean and rugged coastline. The original 1903 lens remains preserved inside. The Cape Bruny Lighthouse Museum visit is also included; children under five can visit the museum and walk the lighthouse base under adult supervision but cannot climb the stairs.

Lunch is served at Hotel Bruny, overlooking Sunset Beach, featuring one course made from local Tasmanian produce with gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options.

The afternoon includes private chocolate and fudge tastings at Bruny Island Chocolate Company, followed by honey tastings and a shop visit at Bruny Island Honey.

The day concludes at The Neck, a narrow isthmus connecting North and South Bruny Island, offering 360-degree water views. You may choose to climb 279 stairs to Truganini Lookout, visit a mid-level lookout, or walk the flat boardwalk to the beach.

The tour returns by ferry and bus to Hobart, arriving between 5pm and 5:30pm.
