Description
The day starts with a 20-minute stop at a bakery just outside Hobart to enjoy coffee and breakfast before heading along the Great Eastern Drive through farmland and forested hills.
Travel through Buckland to Orford for a stop at Raspins Beach, where you’ll see panoramic views of Maria Island and hear about its convict history and early settlers.
Continue north through Tribunna and Swansea, learning about early European settlement, before arriving at Freycinet National Park.
Join your guide for a 1.5-hour return walk to the Wineglass Bay Lookout, which offers excellent views of the bay framed by the Hazards peaks.
After the walk, visit Honeymoon Bay and Cape Tourville Lookout to take in coastal views, white sandy beaches, and clear Tasman Sea waters.
Stop at Devil’s Corner Winery to sample local seafood from Freycinet Marine Farm, enjoy wood-fired pizzas or pasta, and taste Tasmanian wines while overlooking Great Oyster Bay.
Time permitting, visit Kate’s Berry Farm for homemade jams, chocolates, ice cream, and berry desserts.
On the return to Hobart, stop in the historic village of Richmond to see over 50 restored Georgian buildings and Australia’s oldest convict-built bridge still in use.
If weather and daylight allow, end the day with views from Rosny Hill Lookout over Hobart, Mount Wellington, and the Derwent River before returning to the city.
