Description
This full-day tour from Launceston explores Cradle Mountain, rising 1545 metres above sea level within Tasmania’s World Heritage wilderness. It suits those seeking nature, moderate to challenging walks, and local food experiences.
The tour begins with a stop in Sheffield, an open-air mural gallery town. Next, pause at a local bakery to purchase sandwiches, rolls, or wraps for lunch in a picnic area at Cradle Mountain National Park. Then, drive through rainforest-lined roads into the mountains.
Start with an easy guided walk to Pencil Pine Falls, a pristine waterfall. The main walk is the 6 km Dove Lake Circuit, which circles the lake beneath Cradle Mountain. For a more demanding option, hike to Marion’s Lookout for panoramic views of the mountain peaks and surrounding lakes.
