Da Angelo Ristorante
Tasmania
Run by partners Angelo Fraraccio and Marco Caporelli, Ristorante Da Angelo is an authentic Italian hang out. Inspired by the southern regions of Italy, the home of the pizza, almost all food is made on the premises, with their mothers Nioclina and Rita coming in every day to whip up the gnocci which is why it tastes so fresh. Locals say it's easy to find as you just follow the sounds of bubbling conversation, laughter and the enticing smells of fresh cooking.
With many variations of pasta (fettuccine, spaghetti, macaroni, ravioli) and gourmet inspired pizzas with toppings to choose from like brie, salami, capers and pesto, you're able to choose whatever takes your fancy. Have a look at the full menus for more details:

With a true Italian upbringing, the owners are always willing to share stories of traditional Italian culture, for example, the pasta dish carbonara derives its name from the Italian 'carbone' or coal, as traditionally, the miners in Rome would take pancetta and egg into the mines as their lunch.
Many people choose to finish off their meal with a shot of the Italian spirit grapa, known as the 'powerful spirit', a brandy made from what's left after the grapes have been pressed. Alternatively, another option would be the 'Sambuca con mosce' which translates literally as 'Sambuca with flies' as it is served with coffee beans floating on top. The bitter coffee combined with the smooth sambuca is a real treat for the senses.
