If the ‘trick-of-the-eye’ artwork on the walls doesn’t grab your attention, then the food here certainly will. Found on Macquarie Street in South Hobart, Le Provencal is run by a married couple who both take important roles in the restaurant; the husband is the chef, while the wife greets the customers. This charming relationship creates a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for diners, who can expect a delectable combination of French cuisine with international favourites that are served with impeccable attention to detail. There won’t be any waiting for your food in Le Provencal.
Entrees include quail, gnocchi, garlic bread or garlic prawn starters that leave you yearning for the main course. Mussels in a moreish creamy saucy; salmon that is cooked to absolute perfection; steak prepared to order, dripping in a peppercorn sauce (béarnaise); confit de canard that is bathed in a tasty mix of herbs and spices. Only the freshest ingredients and cuts of meat are used, ensuring that you will soon be back for more.
