The Florance
Tasmania
At a glance
The Florance is boutique accommodation in a restored Victorian house at 17 Brisbane Street, positioned within Launceston’s arts precinct and close to the CBD. The property looks towards City Park and surrounding heritage architecture, giving the stay a strong connection to the city’s historic character while retaining a clean, contemporary feel.
Twelve individual guest suites follow a minimalist botanical theme. Room configurations include queen, twin king single, park-view queen, premium queen, easy-access and park-view king suites. Each suite includes a private ensuite, tea and coffee facilities, complimentary Tasmanian shortbread, and a bed made in Tasmania with a bespoke bedhead and a choice of luxury pillows.
The Conservatory provides a light-filled shared area for relaxing, reading daily papers and browsing travel information. The room also features work by Tasmanian artist William Rhodes. A mini breakfast is available in this communal space, which is designed for quiet conversation and informal connections between travellers.
Outside, the Garden Deck offers another place to sit and unwind. It also suits a locally sourced picnic, with the Harvest Market nearby on Saturday mornings. A private car park is available, allowing guests to leave the car behind while exploring Launceston on foot. The surrounding area brings together food, shopping, galleries and cultural attractions within an easy city walk.
The Florance also caters for private small-group functions, with space for groups of up to 24 guests to stay together. Its Victorian proportions, staircase and wrought-iron balcony provide an elegant setting for bridal parties and wedding photography, while the established gardens of City Park are close by for additional photographs.
As a base for exploring northern Tasmania, the property places guests within reach of the Tamar Valley wine route, regional producers, markets, mountain-bike trails, National Trust properties and national parks. The setting suits travellers looking for character accommodation, couples planning a city break, small groups attending an event, and visitors who prefer a central base with shared spaces and practical parking.
