Gala Estate
Tasmania
Gala Estate is relatively new to the wine growing industry, but certainly not to the land.
Currently home to the sixth, seventh and eighth generation, Gala Estate has been in the same family since 1821. It is a producer of Merino wool, prime lambs, vegetable seed, pasture seed, cereals and poppies. The vineyard was established in 2007, with a new focus on producing niche, top end wine for the future.
Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir varieties are all grown at the vineyard. The first vintage was produced in 2011 with spectacular results before the cellar door was opened the following year.
Visitors are invited to the cellar door known as Ted’s Place, to taste the beautiful wines and hear about the history. Kick back in the sunshine with a glass of Pinot Gris and a bowl of local olives, or if you prefer a delicious Tasmanian ploughman’s lunch.
