Theatre North
Tasmania
Theatre North is an independent institution, organised as a not for profit company and funded by local and federal government in Tasmania. The Theatre North Group, which opened to the grand public in 1955, also manages the already-successful Princess Theatre. It also has connections with the Earl Arts Centre.
Today the Theatre North itself presents professional performing arts acts from all across Australia, and internationally. They run an annual programme of events, which is guaranteed to cater for everyone. These productions are events, which would not normally have the chance to make it to a grand stage (such as the Princess Theatre) but have been supported from the grass roots by this Theatre North business. They support the development of local talent and encourage this through their work. They require regular donations to keep this project moving and would appreciate any help that patrons are able to offer in this way.
