Coal Valley Vineyards

Tasmania

Coal Valley Vineyard produces cool climate wines in the Coal Valley only 15 minutes from both the centre of Hobart the historic village of Richmond. The first vines were planted in 1991 and the current owners Gillian Christian and Todd Goebel took over in 1999.

Twelve acres of vines are now planted out mainly to Pinot Noir but also to Riesling, Chardonnay, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

All the vines are hand pruned, checked on daily and all the grapes are handpicked ensuring only the best quality fruit is used to produce the Coal Valley Vineyard wines. Wines available include Blanc de Noirs, Pinot Noir, Sparkling Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Merlot.

Our cellar door is perched just above the Old Block where the first vines where planted. Coal Valley Vineyards reckon they have one of the best cellar door views in Australia so come and see what you think. Group bookings of any size are welcome for wine tastings and they also cater for functions.

As well as tastings and sales there are cheese plates, dips and house baked baguettes. You may byo lunch or make use of the bbq facilities. Salads, bread and meat collection can be arranged by booking in advance.

Functions at Coal Valley Vineyard are catered Tasmanian chef Paul Foreman from Paul Foreman Catering.
