Elgaar Farm

Tasmania

Cheese

The Gretschmanns bought Elgaar farm soon after arriving in Australia and immediately set about converting to a completely organic system of farming, receiving organic certification in 1991. Joe and Antonia now dedicate their time to running and managing the entire Elgaar Farm operation, from the dairy farm through to overseeing distribution as well as promoting the organic industry in Australia and working with government departments on issues such as genetic modification. They firmly believe that organic farming principles not only take care of the environment, but also produce healthier and tastier food. Skills of true natural farming, no need for artificial inputs of pesticides, fertilizers and other chemicals are highly valued on Elgaar Farm.  Today Elgaar Farm's organic produce ranges from milk, yoghurt and cream to mozzarella and hard cheeses, most of which are sold in returnable bottles complete with a refundable deposit on the glass bottles.

Truly fresh and 100% organic

Every drop of Elgaar Farm milk and dairy products are made with milk that comes from the Gretschmann's one farm; 100% organic milk that is produced by Elgaar Farm cows on Elgaar Farm pastures. If there is an ingredient that they need that's not 100% certified organic, they don't use it. It's 100% organic from their milk right down to the vanilla beans in the yoghurt. It's that simple.
