Josef Chromy Wines

Josef Chromy cellar door, vineyard and winery is just a 15 minute drive south of Launceston. Located at Relbia the 61 hectare vineyard has an idyllic location. The original 1880s homestead is nicely done out and serves as the cellar door and cafe. From here you can wander the landscaped gardens that look over the lake to the vines.

The state of the art winery has been producing award winning wines since its inception. Principles of minimal handling and respecting the characters of the fruit have helped them in the winning of way too many awards to list - see their website for more detail. Their premium wines include Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling as well as a sparkling wine and a fortified Sparkling Ruby Pinot. As well as being available at the cellar door, online purchase is available.

There is a Josef Chromy Wine Club with free membership which offers you special member’s prices, first access to new releases, news of events and promotions and more.

The Josef Chromy Cellar Door Cafe offers a full a la carte menu which changes seasonally so as to use in-season Tasmanian produce at its peak. Enjoy a light lunch or gourmet platters. The cafe and surrounds can be booked for private cocktail parties or weddings. Bookings are preferred for groups of five or more.

Gourmet picnic hampers can be purchased to take away or enjoy in the gardens.

One visit won't be enough. You can return on a Sunday for a winery tour, exploring the turning of grapes into wine. Starts at 11am and bookings are essential. There are regular Friday night events that at the moment are film nights, showing films fortnightly until 21 September 2012.

Tickets $25.00 ($21.25-wine club members). Includes a glass of Pepik on arrival and popcorn.
