Description
Your professional guide will collect you in a clean comfortable minibus from your Cradle Mountain accommodation or the Cradle Mountain National Park visitor centre around 10mins before the scheduled departure time. Take a short 15min drive into the Cradle Mountain National Park to Dove Lake carpark. Leaving the carpark, head clockwise on the trail first leading to Glacier rock and see remnants of the movement of a glacier during the last ice age. Take in the tremendous views. Follow your guide and keep walking around the trail to various view points and points of interest where your guide will stop and discuss the plants and flowers of the area. See Pandani, Button grass, Boronia, Waratah and different species of other plants and trees. Along the walk at the southern end of Dove lake, enter the Ballroom forest, a cool temperate rainforest, packed with ancient myrtle beech trees covered in moss from the ground up. The Ballroom is reminiscent of a grand ancient cathedral. Afterwards, hugging the western shore of Dove Lake, take a short climb that brings in heightened views of the area before descending into the King Billy Pine Boat shed, which was constructed by a ranger of Cradle Mountain National Park in 1940. From this point at the boat shed, enjoy some time to admire the special views across the lake to Cradle Mountain. Take a short stroll from the boat shed until you return to the start of the walk at Dove Lake carpark. From here your guide will drop you back to your hotel or visitor centre.Includes
